The cottage nestles in 20 acres of fell-side grounds managed by us for conservation. Deer, both Red and Roe, roam freely. Buzzards soar at eye level. Red Squirrels build their drays here. Bats and Owls emerge at dusk. A multitude of wild flowers grow, such as the Heath Spotted Orchid.
A bird table outside the cottage attracts many garden birds and the squirrels which provides wonderful photo opportunities.
Walking can begin at the door. Join the old packhorse route to Hawkshead and reach Tarn Hows without nearing a road. An information pack is kept in the cottage for your use.
The clarity of our night skies is excellent for stargazing.
